The Maggie's Memories Rolled Cotton People line was created by
Margaret Haire out of a love for antiques, family and faith. Maggie's
Memories has been created in memory of her grandmother and her
mother and in honor of her daughter, who is the fourth Margaret
in a row. Margaret grew up in a family that cherished traditions
passed down from generation to generation. Her family also loved
the warmth and beauty of antiques. Frequent antiquing trips to the
old German Village in the heart of her Midwestern city laid the
foundation for a line of Christmas and other holiday decorations
recalling the German craftsmanship, whimsy, and warmth of a
simpler era.
After Margaret married, she and her husband, Dennis Haire, began
antiquing and amassed a large collection of antique Christmas and other
holiday decorations which have been featured in Country Living
magazine, Antique Weekly, Auction Exchange & Collectible News,
Collector's Journal, American Country Collectibles and Country
Collector. As these antique decorations became more rare and more
expensive, Margaret began to recreate favorite items using vintage parts.
The Maggie's Memories line is inspired by the Rolled Cotton People,
enchanting bisque faced children manufactured from 1880- 1920 in cottage
industries in Germany. These charming figures were typically dressed in
cotton snow suits. Many were candy containers in which the package,
as well as the candy, became the gift. Margaret and Dennis want to bring
to you a smile filled with happiness and love as you give a gift from the
heart reflecting a simpler and more whimsical time.
Maggie's Memories Rolled Cotton People now
allows everyone the ability to recreate
the warm traditions of a bygone era. These lovely figures appeal to those
whose tastes span the spectrum of decorating categories, so that you too
may delight in creating a family tradition of collecting and experiencing
the magic that comes from decorating for the holidays.
